If you’ve met one Neurodivergent person, you’ve met one Neurodivergent person.
This year, I took a leap of faith and applied to have a stall at MCM Comic Con, and I was accepted - thank God! I had the opportunity to sell the ADHD cards and Not Neurotypical T-shirts.
Key themes from people I spoke with across the 3 days:
Many people have been on the waiting list for an ADHD assessment for 3- 5 years.
Parents brought their kids to the stand and spoke about the lack of SEND support in schools, difficulties trying to get their kids assessed and how they were diagnosed with ADHD after their child was.
Adults recently diagnosed in their 40s and 50s asked for guidance on how to explain ADHD to people at their corporate workplace.
A few Autistics are currently exploring whether they also have ADHD.
My highlight was speaking to so many ADHDers, AuDHDers and people (educators, parents, health practitioners) who genuinely wanted to learn more about ADHD.
Also, speaking on the Neurodiversity panel and chatting with our amazing audience, who asked great questions.
Rach, with ADHD
