Really sorry for your losses, sending love and thank you for your brilliant video I watched today. My first time here I wanted to ask the following regarding side effects from the stimulant drugs please:

I am late diagnosed Nov 2023 female at 53 and sometimes take Elvanse 50mg -after 6 hours today of energy, clarity and focus, I now feel a bit nauseous - I am post viral from some sort of bug started last week which I thought I was over so it maybe linked to that.

Is nausea a side effect that anyone has experienced with this drug?

I might not be taking enough breaks as I often motor on through when I have taken the medication.

My other side effects are a few tics and often worsened ADHD symptoms when the drug has worn off early evening such as brain fog ( forgetting the right words) more impatience and tiredness. I am however aware of this and try to go easy on myself then but sometimes hard when its dinner time etc for the teenage kids.

I feel that the benefits of Elvanse are worth it for me when I have a lot to get through with my work and it helps so much with clearer communication, staying calm and prioritising tasks. I only take them on average 1-2 times a week.

What might be your experiences with this drug? Would love to hear.

Thank you for reading,

Stala

Thank you! Glad you’re seeing some benefits, it’s always worth letting your Drs know about any side effects so there’s a record.

I don’t take elvanse I’m on Medikinet, i experienced bad side effects on the short acting ones but I changed to long acting and it’s been life changing. No appetite issues, no crash

Thank you Rach, I will keep in touch with the Drs on the meds.

Good to hear your meds are working really well. There's definitely a lot of trial and error involved.

I have never been a fan for it. One reason the doctors drop me the moment I say no to them…

But I also read a book about adhd for girls, and all the studies for medication is based on boys. And for girls those medication can be harder becasue of the periods….. just put one from each area in one room and start working… 😑

Yep I mention that they’re ineffective when I’m on my period and we need more studies on PMS, Perimenopause & Menopause
